Too Soon

Submitted by wojo on Sun, 2006-05-28 12:28.

I'm in the "Too soon" crowd when it comes to movies like United 93 and World Trade Center. I'm not quite ready to turn a national nightmare into a money making melodrama, and I can't stand Nicholas Cage. Sure, you can make an emotional propaganda piece like Remember Pearl Harbor made only a year after (1942), but you have save the Hollywood epic stuff for much later...say, 29 years (Tora! Tora! Tora!). Here's to 9-11 insensitivity.

What's Next? "Osama's Day Off," "National Lampoons Jihadi Vacation?"

Don't Politicize the Dead

Submitted by wojo on Wed, 2006-02-08 22:45.

I'm am disgusted to see a funeral once again being used as a political prop. A funeral or memorial is a solemn occasion and not a forum to take stabs at one's political opponents. I was sad to be an American, watching as our beloved President was forced to sit as his policies, which have done no harm to the black community, were questioned. Dr. King and Coretta must have looked down with shame. What kind of sick people would use the death of a great American for political gain? I'm equally sickened by the press who has barraged us with articles about Bush "squirming on the dais." Do we really need to know that Bush, "...wore a tight grin?" Only a true political hack would make the reactions and expressions of a President at a funeral the focus of their reporting.

GOP Exploits 911 to Continue Illegal Spying

If you tune into CSPAN 2 right now you'll find Debra Burlingame shilling for Bush.  Her husband was the pilot of  flight 77 on September 11th.  It is sad that the bar is so low for this Administration that nobody is surprised that a 911 widow is their centerpiece of a hearing on the legal and constitutional intricacies of FISA law.  Orrin Hatch is continuing his love fest with Abu Gonzales -- all you need to know: Without this program, the terrorists will be under your bed at night.

Bush on Vacation, Run for Your Lives!

Submitted by wojo on Wed, 2006-01-25 01:19.

Did you notice how Bush is on vacation just as a warning comes in of impending doom.  How could one President be on vacation, TWICE, when he should have been preparing for the greatest attack and act of god respectively the continental US had ever seen?  This also makes two times Bush was warned of a castrophe, but claimed nobody could "anticipate," what was about to happen.  Like Sept. 1:

I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees.

Kind of reminds me of this:

Had I know that the enemy was going to use airplanes to kill on that fateful morning, I would have done everything in my power to protect the American people.

Wasn't Bush on vacation right before the Dinosaurs went extinct -- about 5,000 years ago?

White House Got Early Warning on Katrina

In a second document, also obtained by The Washington Post, a computer slide presentation by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, prepared for a 9 a.m. meeting on Aug. 27, two days before Katrina made landfall, compared Katrina's likely impact to that of "Hurricane Pam," a fictional Category 3 storm used in a series of FEMA disaster-preparedness exercises simulating the effects of a major hurricane striking New Orleans. But Katrina, the report warned, could be worse.
