Coulter and Beauprez Rake in Nothing

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2006-07-14 11:55.

Way to go Beauprez.  This is great news, but here's the difference between Dems and the GOP: the GOP would spin this to mock the candidate (you know, the one people actually vote for) and not the pundit.  Don't get me wrong, I love to see Coulter get her's, but we need to be branding anyone who dares to vote for Beauprez a 9/11 widow-hating harpie.

Colorado Confidential :: Coulter Reception Netted $0 for Beauprez

“We found out the hard way,” says former Beauprez for Gov campaign chief Steve Truebner, “that Ann Coulter is not a major draw for donors.”

Nary a one showed up, according to Truebner, leaving Ms. Coulter and Mrs. Beauprez -- the candidate himself was in D.C., working his day job -- to hobnob in the Paramount’s 2d-floor lobby with about a dozen earnest but penniless campaign volunteers, plus some KOA listeners who’d won free tickets to the Coulter show from the station and just happened to be in the vicinity.

Smiles were flashed, photos were taken, and cheese/crackers were eaten, just like at a real campaign event. The only things missing were the $1,000 checks.

“It turned out to be an interesting evening for the volunteers, a way to reward them,” says Truebner, who’d already left the campaign by then but sponsored the event as a donor.

The Racist Right

Submitted by wojo on Tue, 2006-04-04 19:16.

A great meditation on racism from a Daily Kos diary.  As I keep witnessing more and more racism, sexism, hatred, lies, religious intlorance, and insanity from the  Right, I wonder, "Is there an equivalent on the Left?"  I know plenty of intelligent self-proclaimed Republicans.  In fact, I'm related to a few, but I can't fathom how they can be part of a movement that contains...No, celebrates, these elements.  People like Rush are not the fringe of the Right, they are center, the center-right, if you will.  The fat, white, sexist, and racist talk personalities are leaders of their movement.  Okay, that's an unfair generalization; Anne Coulter is skinny.

Daily Kos: I've Had It With Racist Radio Hosts

It was just, like, a day or two ago that I had read that nationally syndicated radio talk show host Neil Boortz had described the appearance of African-American Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney as like a "ghetto slut," "ghetto trash," and "a welfare drag queen." The mindboggling viciousness and racism exploding from those comments knocked even a jaded racism watcher like me back on my heels.

And now just today I am reading that the nation's most famous blowhard, Rush Limbaugh, just referred to the black alleged rape victims at Duke University as "ho's" on his nationally syndicated radio program.

The following lowlights come just from items that I actually recall in recent years:

Michael Savage referring to inner-city children as "ghetto slime."

Limbaugh saying, "The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

Bob Grant, who in hanging up on black callers would dismiss them with, "I don't need my toilets cleaned today!" or "I don't need my windows washed today!"

Doug "Greaseman" Tracht, who, joking about the lynching of James Byrd, played a snippet of a Lauren Hill record, then cracked, "No wonder people drag them behind trucks," and said about the enactment of the federal Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday: "kill four more and we can take a whole week off."

Bill O'Reilly, who once referred to Mexicans as "wetbacks" on his TV program, and once cracked about a black singing group that was late for a live performance he was hosting, "I hope they're not in the parking lot stealing our hubcaps."

William Bennett, musing that "you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down."

Anne Coulter Makes Me Jump for Joy

Submitted by wojo on Wed, 2006-02-22 01:03.

Arianna Huffington offered the perfect dose of calculated reason to expose the extreme irony of the Right -- calling everyone on the Left, "Extremists" while making truly extreme and downright insane comments to justify their labels.  In "her blog response":http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/is-sean-hannity-addicted-_b_16109.html to the horror show that is Hannity and Colmes, Huffington shares some of Coulter's greatest hits:

Arianna left out my personal favorite though.  It's from a great article where Coulter feigns shock that the Columbia Shuttle disaster blanketed the press.  I mean it isn't like the country came to a standstill after the Challenger explosion.  Of course, I remember Liberals celebrating that catostrophe as well.  In fact, between rooting against our Olympic athletes and trying to undermine the war on terror, I hardly have time to celebrate our failures in Iraq.

Townhall.com :: Columns :: 'Will of Allah' pre-empts Iraq invasion by Ann Coulter - Feb 6, 2003

The idea that liberals feel the shuttle explosion was a tragedy is patent nonsense. They were jumping for joy at this new excuse to denounce the "march to war."
