Border Patrol: We will stop all illegal Mexican Squirrels

Submitted by amilh on Fri, 2008-07-25 15:28.

SAN DIEGO, CA - The U.S. Customs and Border Protection stepped up their fight against illegal immigration by targeting illegal animal immigration.

Ralph Baaham, Commissioner of the US Customs and Border Protection related his concerns, "Over six million illegal immigrants evade our immigration and inspectors at the border each year. We have however been ignoring an even greater number of animals who illegally enter our border who number in the tens of millions. This negligence to stop illegal animals invading our country will now stop. The CBP will immediately institute a three tier policy to seriously crack down on the illegal animal immigration."

Activists asking for tighter restrictions on animal immigration for years feel vindicated by the recent developments. Jonah Spencer with the League to Defend American Animals issued a press release indicating, "For too long illegal Mexican squirrels have been taking good American nuts from hard working American squirrels. I hope to see a day when no Mexican pigeon will be able to invade our country and take prime statue real estate from God fearing American pigeons. This is a good day to be an American animal!"

You Still want to vote for Hillary?

We've posted, and posted about the need to elect Obama to beat the Republicans this year, but there are now CNN polls that confirm our keen political insight.

USA will soon eat itself

Submitted by amilh on Sat, 2008-01-26 23:37.

In case you didn't feel bad enough about Abu Ghraib, the economy or Dennis Kucinich dropping out of the presidential race taking with him his hot ass wife, now you also need to worry about your neighbor eating you.

In a CNN report on obesity in America, always smiling sellout Indian reporter Sanjay Gupta shows us just how fat the US is.  What is great about the map is how perfectly it matches up to the 2004 presidential election.

Breaking News: Dems Indicted

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2006-03-10 16:25.

When I launch Internet Explorer (very rare) it automatically opens to netscape.  I just haven't bothered to change it because I really only use Firefox.  Plus, it's a good way to see what news is getting served to the masses.  Today's Headline, Dems Indicted; Clinton, Kerry Targeted

I was shocked.  What was this all about?  Since earlier this morning when I checked the news had the Dems committed a great crime?  Had they been implicated with Abramoff?  No!  They had been "charged" by the head of the GOP, Ken Mehlman, with an inability to find an election-year slogan.

From the CNN piece

The head of the Republican Party, launching a broad indictment of the Democratic Party six months before midterm elections, is expected to charge Friday that the opposition can't find an election-year slogan, let alone agree on a broad agenda.

Now I'd like to believe that most people will follow the article and realize it is much ado about nothing, but the majority of people simply read the headlines and think, "Those Democrats did something illegal again."  Will we see a headline, "GOP Indicted; Bush, Rumsfeld Targeted" with an article about Dems complaining about Bush's staged Town Hall meetings?  Will we see a "Delay Indicted" headline...oh, right.

Eavesdropping on Bush

Submitted by wojo on Mon, 2006-02-13 18:18.

Get ready for the revelation of a lifetime.  Bush's mic was left on inadvertently during the Republican Retreat as he delivered his confidential remarks to the caucus.  Oooh, this is gonna be hot.  Maybe he'll call Brownie and "asshole."  Maybe, he'll tell that guy Cheney shot to "Go Fuck Yourself!"  Whatever he says, we are going to get our first look at Bush's real thoughts on the Domestic Wiretapping controversy.  Alright, enough build-up, let's get to the goods...

Reporters Turn Eavesdropping Tables on Bush After Microphone Mistake

"I want to share some thoughts with you before I answer your questions," Bush began. "First of all, I expect this conversation we're about to have to stay in the room. I know that's impossible in Washington."

He was right.

Oh, Snap! That was hot!  He left his mic on and...and...WTF did he say!?  They report that he was about to say something extremely confidential and don't tell us what it is?  Woodward would be turning over in his grave -- if he wasn't busy sipping martinis with the Bush twins and washing Scott McClellan's car.

All hope isn't lost yet, CNN picked up on this and added a bit more.  Let's see what those lefties at the Clinton News Network have to say.

An Exercise in Futility: Debating a Wingnut

Submitted by wojo on Sun, 2006-02-05 11:57.

I made the huge mistake of trying to engage Conservatives in "reasonable debate":http://sayanythingblog.com/2006/01/27/liberal-bias-2/. Read the thread just to see the attacks on me from the Anne Coulter in training who has a pic of her shooting a gun as her avatar. I'm not about to win any high school debate contest, and the thread devolves from a discussion about media bias against John Kerry to the nature of Al Qaeda, but at least I try to make an argument and use some facts. You'll notice my talking points are backed up with links and quotes, while theirs are simply blanket statements of falsehoods. It is almost an exponential exercise: the longer and more source-filled my posts become, the more terse and vindictive become theirs.

The big differences between the left and extreme right is "loyalty beyond reason":http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/8/184627/9037. While mini-Coulter is happy to just call me an "asshole," rob108, sticks to the "President is our leader" meme. Not based on anything I've said, but based on his vision of "Liberals," he claims, "Maybe your hatred for the President has effectively lowered your IQ."

What is truly sad is that these Wingers must now deceive themselves and practice some revisionist history of their own. Since the WMDs never materialized they must now convince themselves that they initially supported the war for other reasons. Most, simply ignore that the purported ties between "Al Qaeda and Saddam":http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47812-2004Jun16.html have now been proven false, and live in a fantasy world where Iraq is going well, we've killed more terrorists than "we've created":http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1512597,00.html, "bin Laden and his leadership":http://reallyimportantstuff.com/wojo/wanted_dead_or_alive_or_eventually/01/20/2006 network doesn't really matter, we have "plenty of troops":http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A7053-2004Oct4.html (and the chickenhawks are not needed to enlist), and history will vindicate GW. These people are "loyal to their brand":http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/8/184627/9037.

CNN Poll Shows Bias

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2006-01-27 03:13.

That left-wing media is at it again.  Kerry anounces he is supporting a filibuster, so does CNN ask whether or not he should support a filibuster?  Do they ask if Alito should be filibustered?  Do they ask if other Democrats will join Kerry?  No, they have the audacity to ask this -- not so subtly implying that Kerry doesn't really believe in what he's doing.  It is unbelievable and the Right would never suffer such treatment.

CNN.com QuickVote

Why do you think John Kerry wants to filibuster Samuel Alito?
Conviction: 42% 26189 votes
Politics: 58% 35455 votes Total: 61644 votes

The Schiavo fiasco was one of the most blatant political stunts pulled by the Right since Bush landed on an aircraft carrier to proclaim "Mission Accomplished."  Yet a look over the cnn polls during the time that the Republicans were sticking their nose in a family matter, shows no poll questions challenging the motives of those lawmakers who played tape-recorder-Doctor.  Instead the questions were more like:

  • Who would you want to make the decision about pulling the plug if you were in a vegetative state? March 21
  • Do you believe Terri Schiavo is suffering? March 25
  • Do you think Burger King's 'enormous' breakfast sandwich will be a big seller? March 28
  • Did Terri Schiavo's final days change the way you view life and death? March 31

Talking Points are the Story

Submitted by wojo on Tue, 2006-01-24 17:05.

In his oh-so-important "Situation Room," Blitzer went right for the journalistic jugular.  Wolf let us know that right after the break he was going to ask the tough questions with this teaser, "Is the President's campaign to defend his spying porgram working."  This is what hard news has become; we don't analyze what Bush said to see if it is,  what's the word...True.  No, the question is, "Is it working" --  meaning, "Are his poll numbers going up."

Look for more important stories from Blitzer.

  • "Is the Bush campaign to convince the world that Global Warming cures cancer working?"
  • "Are the Republicans practicing good politics by circulating photshopped pictures of  Hilary Clinton making love to Janet Reno while performing an abortion?"
  • "How are new talking points that my wife should let Judy Woodruff join us in a threesome to save our marriage polling?"
  • "Are the glaciers winning the Global Warming war of words by disappearing?"

Add your own in the comments.

It's amazing, though not surprising, how such a black and white story can be reduced to "he said, she said" journalism.  I guess all journalism is that way lately.  Journalists seem to conflate getting facts with getting quotes.  It's not just Blitzer either, print journalism has become one of the worst culprits.  I googled around and found this San Diego Union Tribune article that is nothing but unqualified, back and forth quotes (maybe, they should write Intelligence reports for Bush on topics like WMDs).  WAPO was no surprise with the quote below.  And notice it is a "campaign."  They can even turn an illegal spying program into a horse race.

Tough Love for Journalists

Submitted by wojo on Mon, 2006-01-23 03:30.

Maybe the US needs to start banning reporters and networks when they make a mistake of global -- or even local political -- signifigance.  Let's start with Judy Miller.  Maybe, FOX News can follow.  Debbie Howell can't be far behind at this point.

Seriously though, US news organizations took months and even years to apologize for their WMD reporting.  Howell still won't admit her mistake and WAPO was reduced to taking down their blog to protect her from the facts, and Tim Russert thinks every black person in America must respond to Harry Belafonte's rants.  Ban them?  Hell, let's go straight to the stoning.

Iranian president asks end to CNN ban

As Ahmadinejad was speaking, an interpreter working for a translation company hired by CNN misquoted him as having said Iran has the right to build nuclear weapons. In fact, he said Iran has the right to nuclear energy, and that "a nation that has civilization does not need nuclear weapons." He added, "our nation does not need them." The incorrect translation was re-broadcast on CNN later Saturday. As soon as it was alerted to the error Sunday, CNN corrected the translation and clarified Ahmadinejad's remarks, and the network apologized...

In a written statement, CNN said it "apologized on all its platforms which included the translation error, including CNN International, CNNUSA and CNN.com, and also expressed its regrets to the Iranian government and the Iranian ambassador to the U.N."

Wanted: Dead or Alive or Eventually

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2006-01-20 08:31.

I woke up to the strangest headline, "Breaking News| New Osama Threats Ignite Manhunt for His Capture":http://netscape.com. That banner may have rotated by now, but the article at CNN carries the headline "Bin Laden: World's Biggest Manhunt Heats Up":http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/story.jsp?idq=/ff/story/7000/20060120/0525000001.htm&ewp=ewp_news_0106qaeda&floc=NW_1-T.

Of course, it was over 5 years ago Junior displayed his obvious affinity for all things cowboy, not just clearing brush and fishing with Heath Ledger, when "he said":http://archives.cnn.com/2001/US/09/17/bush.powell.terrorism/,

bq. I want justice, and there's an old poster out West… I recall, that said, 'Wanted, Dead or Alive.'

While in "Afghanistan in 2002":http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/101504W.shtml, Bush didn't exactly Cowboy-Up:

bq. I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run.

So not catching him wasn't a massive blunder due to our Iraq folly -- wasn't Bin Laden hiding with the weapons, somewhere around Tikrit? The truth is, we all know how a Posse gathers all the strong men in town, goes looking for the bad guys for a week, then takes over another unrelated town -- preferably one with black god -- and starts handing out building contracts. That's how they caught the bad guys in the Old West.

"Iraq, I wish I knew how to quit you"
