What is all the hubub about paying for sex?

Submitted by amilh on Tue, 2008-03-11 14:23.

James Florentein

Okay America let's get real for a minute, and not Real Time Bill Maher real, I mean really real. What is all the commotion about paying for vaginal pleasures? Am I missing something here? I thought America was all about personal freedom? We have the freedom to buy guns, get drunk and or drive, and the God given right to look at boobies at any time of the day.

Why then America can't a healthy American man buy a snatch sandwich after a hard day of work?

If anything we should be encouraging more American prostitution, it might be one of the last things we can corner the market in. What's that you say? Thai girls are 20 years ahead of our prostitutes Shit! See America, you're loosing out on yet another economic battle.

All I'm saying is that we as Americans can do better. We can make better schools, kick more terrorist ass, and also provide the best top shelf cooter to paying customers. This is the land of the free, not the land of the free, except when it comes to paying for a woman to tie you up and spank your buttocks until you develop small but adorable blisters.

Get your act together America, this is one fight that is actually worth fighting.

Giuliani and the red sweater

Tough guy Rudy Giuliani took a queue from Mike Huckabee's Christmas message by dawning his own red sweater and telling Americans what really matters, wearing bad Christmas sweaters.

On the lookout for illegal Pakistanis in Iowa

Submitted by sunset jack on Fri, 2007-12-28 09:21.

Why do they all have to be so fucking nuts?

Foreign policy gaffes plague Huckabee - CNN.com

During an event Friday in Pella, Iowa, Huckabee said the crisis sparked by Bhutto's death should lead to a crackdown on illegal immigrants from Pakistan.

<snip>

"In light of what happened in Pakistan yesterday, it's interesting
that there are more Pakistanis who have illegally crossed the border
than of any other nationality except for those immediately south of our
border," Huckabee said Friday.

Americans might "look halfway around the world and say, 'How does that
affect me?' ... We need to understand that violence and terror is
significant when it happens in Pakistan, [and] it's more significant if
it can happen in our own cities. And it happens if people can slip
across our border and we have no control over them."

"The
immigration issue is not so much about people coming to pick lettuce or
make beds, it's about people who could come with a shoulder-fired
missile and could do serious damage and harm to us," Huckabee said,
"and that's what we need to be worried about."

The GOP Plan for Sex: Abstinence or Death

Submitted by wojo on Wed, 2006-07-26 13:50.

After citing Dick Durbin's comments about a 13 year old girl being killed by her father who had impregnated her when he discovered she scheduled an abortion, this author on Dkos nails the issue (no pun intended). Namely, the Republican's goal when it comes to sex is to increase the consequences of having sex, even if those consequences are death.  This is a party that opposes an HPV vaccine and has even stated they'd be opposed to an HIV vaccine.

I keep trying to explain this point in various contexts: Dems are wrong to decry GOP incompetence or talk about the unintended consequences of their policies.  The consequences are perfectly intended; this is what Republicans stand for and to borrow from Dear Leader "Your either for us or agianst us." I'm sick of the Moderate Conservatives telling me that they don't agree with the Religous Right, but they just want "fiscal responsibility" and "lower taxes."  This is the real GOP, and any "Moderate" person should be ashamed to take part. Oh, and if you still aren't convinced this is a bad law, read this -- it's powerful to say the least.

Lamm Chops and Lessons for Democratic Victory

Submitted by wojo on Mon, 2006-07-17 00:05.

What happens when Michael Schiavo shows up to support Congressional Candidate, Peggy Lamm?  This fine family shows up to show us the real face of the GOP...adorably insane.  Democrats could learn two important lessons from this event, and the Lamm race.

A few months ago I got into a conversation with a friend from Colorado about Peggy Lamm.  He assured me that she had "No chance of winning," and played up her "outsider" status.  Of course, this only draws me to her more.  My friend directed me to a CO Democratic politics "insider," who further assured me that the DC establishment was firmly behind Ed Perlmutter, which only goes to prove that the Beltway Boys, with their perpetual losing convential wisdom are of no use to the Party.  Lamm is the clear choice and best chance of Democrats stealing another seat in November.  Lesson 1: Don't listen to "Party Insiders."

Michael Schiavo is correct that we should work at "keeping the right-wing agenda at bay," but Dems keep missing an important oppurtunity with these Wingnuts.  If two out of a thousand user-submitted videos to MoveOn.org equate Bush's version of fascism with the Nazis, somehow all Democrats, or "liberals," are radicals and out of touch.  Yet,the GOP can shutdown Congress for a week because a man wants to take his brain-dead wife off of life-support, and the country still uses the benign word, "Conservative" to describe them.  I don't know if it is possible to re-brand the word in the same way the GOP turned "Liberal" into a synonym of "Radical," but certainly a much greater majority of Conservatives are out of touch with mainstream America.  Anyone who calls themself, "Republican" or "Conservative," should have to defend the actions of all Wing-Nuttery (Anne Coulter) in the same way I have to defend every word uttered by Michael Moore.  Lesson 2: Don't paint the radicals as out of touch fringe elements; paint them as what they are: the people that control the GOP and at present, the entire US Government. Normal people should be embarrassed to admit supporting this agenda.

Noah's Ark Found, Get Your Stones Ready

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2006-06-30 09:53.

How come I'm not suprised that this "find" comes from guys from Texas, and if you follow the links on their site, clearly Right Wing guys from Texas.  It's not a good sign when your "Scientific team" has a mission of "validat(ing) to the world that the Bible is ture, and that it represents an accurate, non-fictional account of God's will to bring the people of this world into relationship with Him."  Shouldn't your mission be...ummm, more...I don't know -- scientific?  Kind of like the anti-global warming "scientists" saying up front, "Our mission is to prove to the world that Global Warming was made up by Al Gore to help the terrorists take over America and make white people slaves to minorities."  I tend to trust less agenda-driven, and less Exxon funded science.  Or in this case, less "George Bush is our King David" driven "science."

I'm prepared for another "Piltdown Man."  Somehow, I doubt an ark the size of a small aircraft carrier could carry two of every animal in the world.  We need to call in the Daily Show "Wood Specialist," because I also don't think any wood, even the mythical "Gopher Wood," as the Bible calls the ark's material, could survive for tens of thousands of years.  Of course, if they are right, I'm fully prepared to count every word of the Bible as scientifically accurate and instructive, including: Living in a whale's stomach, a 5,000 year old earth, the "sun standing still" (wait, doesn't it always stand still, guess not...silly Copernicus), not shaving, and stoning adulterers.

Jon Stewart Out Reasons Bill Bennett

Submitted by wojo on Wed, 2006-06-07 18:34.

Stewart: So why not encourage gay people to join in in that family arrangement if that is what provides stability to a society?

Bennett: Well I think if gay..gay people are already members of families...

Stewart: What? (almost spitting out his drink)

Bennett: They're sons and they're daughters..

Stewart: So that's where the buck stops, that's the gay ceiling.

Bennett Look, it's a debate about whether you think marriage is between a man and a women.

Stewart:I disagree, I think it's a debate about whether you think gay people are part of the human condition or just a random fetish.

Not only did Jon Stewart nail Bill Bennett, but did so without mentioning the hypocrisy of "Morality Police" Bennett's, gambling addiction. The reality of why Bennett couldn't reason his way out of this is because the movement is not about reason, or morality -- it's a religious viewpoint. Bennett was trying to argue his case while avoiding his (and other gay marriage opponent's) real reason for wanting the Amendment: The Bible.

The truth of it is that the Church admits its insignificance by begging the State to protect the "sanctity" of marriage.
