The Dark W.

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2008-07-25 06:36.

I was just moaning to friends that Bataman sucks, is totally full of itself, and seems to be parroting Bush's favorite messaging on terror. I guess someone at WSJ agrees.

There seems to me no question that the Batman film "The Dark Knight," currently breaking every box office record in history, is at some level a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war.

Like W, Batman is vilified and despised for confronting terrorists in the only terms they understand. Like W, Batman sometimes has to push the boundaries of civil rights to deal with an emergency, certain that he will re-establish those boundaries when the emergency is past.

And like W, Batman understands that there is no moral equivalence between a free society -- in which people sometimes make the wrong choices -- and a criminal sect bent on destruction. The former must be cherished even in its moments of folly; the latter must be hounded to the gates of Hell. "The Dark Knight," then, is a conservative movie about the war on terror. And like another such film, last year's "300," "The Dark Knight" is making a fortune depicting the values and necessities that the Bush administration cannot seem to articulate for beans.

Hillary locks up racist xenophobe vote

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2008-05-16 02:18.
This video is absolutely amazing, and massively frightening. A European friend keeps telling me to support Clinton, because the country isn't ready for a black president -- especially with the middle-name of, "Hussein." He may very well be right, but I say force the racists to the surface and let's see who wins. Either way, we deserve what we get.

You know Hill, it is damn sad that this has become the base of your supporters. Congrats! Looks like your years of pandering to war hawks and backwards moralists has really paid off. They have completely forgot you are a woman and a liberal. Mission Accomplished.

Colbert's meltdown

This is a great spoof on the Bill O'Reilly meltdown video, but the throw-away bit is actually the funniest as Colbert reports some hometown news:
At this pet store, it really is a dog eat dog world.

BBC: On tits and global warming

Submitted by wojo on Mon, 2008-05-12 19:39.

Christmas come early! Just days after the BBC pulls out one of the top headlines ever, "Europeans get drunk to have sex," they just go and raise the bar again. What's next, the BBC following the Brit tabloids with topless women? Important topless women of course, like the Queen, Thatcher and Amy Winehouse. This is the BBC after all.

Why 'Cute College Girls' won't talk to you

It finally makes sense...They're too "shy." So that's why she threw that drink in my face -- not so much, "Get a life, loser!" as, "I'm shy; let's talk online instead. Thank you Facebook.

Best BBC Headline Ever!

Submitted by wojo on Fri, 2008-05-09 22:30.
BBC NEWS | Europeans get drunk 'to have sex'
Young adults in Europe deliberately binge on drink and drugs to improve their sex lives, research suggests.

The UK has one of the worst reputations for binge drinking and underage sex but there are striking similarities between countries, a study found.

A third of 16 to 35-year-old men and 23% of women questioned said they drank to increase their chance of sex.

Now this is research grants being put to good use. Who would have ever thought that people go out drinking with hopes of getting some action? What makes this "scientific" and not just a drunk night out for the researcher is the eureaka! revelation that, "...many young people were 'strategically' binge drinking or abusing drugs to improve their sex lives." Aha, it's all about the strategy.

Look for more shocking headlines from the BBC to follow:
  • Obese people eat too much
  • Creepy uncle is pedophile
  • Less attractive people find dating difficult
  • Americans be dumb
  • Study Finds: Lottery winners extremely lucky
  • Teenage daughter 'Totally hates!' parents
  • Explosives linked to blowing up stuff

I'm off to do some research.
